Sing and Dance your Heart’s Song!

Music, dance and song lead us beyond the barriers of words and beliefs. We become one heart, one voice, all singing together, each one sharing their own voice, beyond separation.

During the weekend we will explore songs and dances using mantras and sacred texts from different traditions which enable us to go deeper within ourselves and contact our inner state of peace. We will work with breath, intention, movement, visualisation, meditation and sound, and explore our inner pathway to the heart. The objective of this weekend is to bring us closer to our true creative self.

It is open to all who would like to explore this path of song and dance and are willing to work towards a greater understanding of themselves.

The Elements

In this weekend we will explore the elements using dance, song and meditation and sharing dances from many native traditions that honour the earth and the five elements. Going deeper into listening to our body, heart and mind, relating to the elements, we will use them to assist us in our healing processes, and share the wonders of the rhythms of nature.

Letting go and embracing change

We will explore the themes of change in our lives, mourning and healing the past, celebrating change, mirroring the seasons and the rhythms of nature, letting go the old and embracing the new, cutting ties, healing and renewal.

Joy and Jilani love to work together and have been leading well-attended retreats together in France for several years. This is the first time they have shared a retreat in the UK.

Joy Azima Liengaard

Joy Azima is a trained music therapist, musician and singer and works in her daily life as a Cranio-sacral therapist. She has been dancing the dances for many years, and is passionate about sharing the joy and life energy that they bring to her. She is a trained dance leader of the dances for universal peace, and a trainee mentor of the dances. Joy is deeply dedicated to the message of unity beyond religions, inspired by Hazrat Inayat Khan. She also works as a retreat guide in the Sufi order.

Jilani Cordelia Prescott

Jilani Cordelia is a classically trained viola player with many years of experience as a performer and teacher. She met the Dances of Universal Peace in 1998, and was initiated into the Sufi Ruhaniat in 2006. She was certified as a leader of the Dances in 2008, and is a Dance Leadership Mentor, working with mentees in six countries. She leads a weekly Dance circle at the Heart Centre, and a monthly circle in Hebden Bridge, and regularly leads workshops and retreats in the UK, France and Spain.
