A SUFI GARDEN
A life-affirming online evening with chants,
body prayer and meditation
Online group: Wednesday October 6th 7.30-9.00pm
With Karim Hadden and Alan Heeks
Our theme is
The Sufis in India naturally engaged and shared practices with the Yogis. Both of the founding teachers of our Sufi order Hazrat Inayat Khan, himself an Indian Sufi, and Samuel Lewis, who started the Dances of Universal Peace had deep connections to Hindu and Buddhist figures. In this evening we will tap into these rivers of sacred knowing and bring out some of the gems they offer us in the form of mantras, sutras, story, meditation, chant and dance. We will visit the wisdom of the Buddhist Heart Sutra, the flashing insights of Zen Koans, the meditations of the Vijnana Bhairava Tantra and the deep devotion of the Bhakti tradition. Inspired by how beautifully these practices and traditions complement each other, we hope to emerge with fresh insights and tools for our path.
Karim Hadden is a highly experienced leader of devotional chants and Dances of Universal Peace. He has followed the path of Universal Sufism for many years, and works as a craniosacral therapist.
Alan Heeks has been exploring how people can grow with Nature for many years, with many groups at Hazel Hill Wood, the retreat centre he founded. His spiritual path weaves elements from the Sufi, Christian, Celtic and other traditions. See www.naturalhappiness.net
