Bookings now open for this exciting new International Dances of Universal Peace Weekend Event in Peebles, Scotland, 6-9 August 2026. INFORMATION AND REGISTRATION: dupscotland26@gmail.com
A unique opportunity to dance with acclaimed and highly experienced senior Dance Leaders, Mentors and Sufi Guides from Latin America, Lakshmi Lorena Tamariz (Ecuador) and Nur Jahan Roxana Campos (Chile), plus Jilani Cordelia Prescott from the UK. Also experience outstanding Sufi musicians Malika Elena Salazar (Colombia) and Ishtar Cynthia Valenzuela (Mexico), in concert on Friday 7th August, and playing for us during the retreat.
The title of the DUP event, “GATHERING HONEY IN OUR HEARTS” arises from the Scottish Borders environment in which we will be dancing. The surrounding hills are covered in heather and in August/September each year, the blossoming heather turn the hills from green to purple which, when the sunlight plays with the colours between the clouds, is breathtakingly beautiful to behold. Thanks to the heather blossom, the bees busily gather the nectar from which comes the well-known Scottish Borders honey. “Gathering Honey in Our Hearts” refers to our heart’s desire to gather the sweet honey of Love, Harmony and Beauty within our own beings; to fill our own hearts with the warmth, joy and healing which comes from dancing and singing in unison with one another, and of adding to the joy and well-being of each other in the circle, and ultimately radiating these qualities into the world. Gathering the honey of Love, Harmony, Beauty, Joy and Well-being in our own hearts, we in turn, can share these nourishingly heartening attributes in our own personal lives and environments.
