The Camp
After nearly a decade Allaudin Ottinger will return to teach at this year’s camp. The zikr evening he offered in 2016 is still fondly remembered as a major highlight and Allaudin also shared with us of a number of his own dances, some of which are classics in the history of DUP. We are delighted to be able to invite him back in 2025.
Allaudin is a professional musician and has facilitated camps, seminars and retreats around the world since 1979. “His exceptional musicianship, creativity and spontaneity are the seeds of ecstatic experiences of the transformational, healing power of the sacred arts.”
Allaudin will be joined by Mo’unisa Vitalija Zelenevska, John Bolton, Sky Ratcliffe, Glen as well as Nickomo, who will offer an evening of Celtic dances.
Closer to home, after a gap of some years we are fortunate to welcome back Gulzar Lausevic, who guides blossoming dance leaders and is currently steering the Sacred Arts Camp. Rounding out the DUP staff from England will be Daren Messenger offering one more time a deepening into the Aramaic Jesus, and Glen Unmana.
Special workshops this year include Soul Resilience and Community Resilience with Alan and Allaudin, who will explore how spiritual connection can give us strength and how local communities can adapt in these times of growing disruption.
Singing teachers include Pete offering Gospel Singing, Roz with Georgian Harmonies, Katinka sharing Ragas, Jo Harvey with Harmony Singing, Bruce offering Singing and of course Nickomo and friends with Harmonic Temple. Karim and Jo Hanstead and friends will take us on another beautiful journey with Devotional Singing. Karim will also co-lead a session called Rising to Joy, exploring ways to find joy in our lives.
Sufi Practice this year will be co-led by Hannah and Michael Sclater and early mornings will also feature Buddhist Mindfulness meditation with Daren. Hannah will also reprise her well-received afternoon Sufi Whirling classes.
Other programme highlights include Firenight and drumming with Mike and Jo Macrae, soulwork/eldering sessions called Role to Soul with Darvesha, Yoga with Ty and Family Constellations with Barbara, and Ecstatic dance with Will & friends.
After many years of sharing her wonderful gifts as a Circle Dance teacher, Rosa has decided to step down. We thank Rosa for all the joy she helped to bring into the community and meanwhile have invited Maia Pelham-Green and Christina Baines, who along with Tara will facilitate the Circle Dances this year. Christina will also hold this year’s evening Taizé.
