Dr. Neil Douglas-Klotz (Saadi) founded the International Network for the Dances of Universal Peace in 1982, a multicultural resource center for those who choose this form of peacemaking through the arts as their forum for both peace "demonstration" as well as spiritual practice. He lectures and conducts workshops worldwide dealing with the interconnection of mind, body, and spirit and what it means for both individual development, social action, and peace and justice work in today's world, drawing on text, sacred movement and music.
He currently directs the Edinburgh Institute for Advanced Learning in Edinburgh, Scotland and is the past chair of the Mysticism Group of the American Academy of Religion. He is the author of Prayers of the Cosmos, Desert Wisdom, The Hidden Gospel, The Genesis Meditations and the recently released Sufi Book of Life (http://www.sufibookoflife.com), and most recently Blessings of the Cosmos and The Tent of Abraham (both 2006). He helped found the annual Edinburgh International Festival of Middle Eastern Spirituality and Peace (see http://www.mesp.org.uk) and has been active in citizen diplomacy using spiritual practice and meditation for the past 17 years. In 2005 he was awarded the Kessler-Keener Foundation Peacemaker of the Year award for his work in this area. For more information on his work, see http://www.abwoon.org.
