This edition of Spiritual Dance and Walk builds upon the efforts of many people over many years. In addition, we have added a much revised version of the instructions that go with the first volume of music to the Dances. This volume is now called Dances of Universal Peace: Volume 1 (US1).
Originally, we planned the Dance instruction section of this book to be released as a separate booklet that would go with our tape. We discovered, however, almost a complete overlap between that material and the Dances included in Spiritual Dance and Walk , so the two projects merged. The book serves as a good introduction to the dance, covering many of the principles and practices.
The Dance instructions are substantially edited from those in the comprehensive Teachers Dance Manual. In this case, we found that the descriptions and definitions had to be significantly expanded upon. In order to make this an introductory book, we have tried to be as meticulous as possible about definitions of foreign terms and clarity of instruction. Zarifah Demcho-Wagor and Neil Douglas-Klotz edited the Dances from the Teachers Manual.
